What does “self-serve” entail?

In order to keep our community-minded space affordable, we will be self-serve to members only. When self-serving, you set your own appointment online and log into our sauna app to pre-heat the sauna to your preferred temperature before your visit.

The short answer is most-likely. We found that our self-serve pass holders this past year consistently booked empty time-slots even though we do allow up to 5 to enjoy the spa at a time. It helps that our membership passes will be sold in limited quantities. Keep in mind we also allow our massage members to use the spa in tandem with their massage. Although chances are high that you will have the spa to yourself or to yourselves, do also carry a welcoming energy toward others joining in, especially during common busy hours.

Are spa sessions private?

We begrudge so much technology, and unfortunately, using our scheduling app and our sauna heater app will be the only way we can sustain as a business. Our business may not be for you without these two apps.

I hate using apps - do I need them?

How will the Group Membership work?

There needs to be an assigned “head of the group” who is in charge and present for all visits (exceptions are made for parents in nuclear families.) This allows for the group to sometimes alter while our practices and expectations for the space remain the same.

What are the “Utility Fees” for?

With the costs of water and power going up, adding these per-use fees helps us stay sustainable.

What are the rules of the spa?

Mindfulness around your conversation (in topic & engaging with introverts). Soapy shower to start. Sweat rinse before cold-plunging. Long hair tied back (save your deeper washing for home). Agreement to our spa waiver. Must be in fair enough health for sauna use. No alcohol. No creeps.

Who can use the spa?

All genders, ages 13+ with their guardian, must be in fair enough health to use the spa.

What do you mean by “leisurely visits?”

Between each reservation is 30 minutes to come and go in a relaxed way. Members must be mindful of our alarm system that will surely go off if the space is occupied beyond our hours.

Are you clothing optional?

Bathing suit or sweat attire is required.

What will be the new spa hours?

6:30 am - 9 pm Tuesday - Sunday

Do you still do private rentals?

We do! Email Shauna at fernandthistlemassage@gmail.com.

I have a gift certificate, how can I use that?

Some of you received gift certificates intended for a general-public spa visit. These gift certificates can be used toward a massage, our new membership, or you can email Shauna and we can set you up with a spa visit since we will no longer provide a way to book that. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding with the unexpected switcheroo.

Is there a limit to how often members can use the space?

We are selling a comparable amount of passes to our Pre-Sale pass a year ago. We are also expanding our hours to begin at 6 am. With our experience from this past year seeing how busy the space actually gets, for now we are saying no more than one visit a day, however, we will reserve the right to tinker with visitation limits should we find that to be necessary for the harmony of community.

If I purchase a YOU + 1 membership or a Family/Group membership, do I have to be present for my guests?

If your +1 guest is consistent, they become just as much a part of the community as you. We welcome consistent guests, such as spouses, to join without you. For inconsistent guests, please host them in order to keep harmony for your guest and for the space. For nuclear families, please designate 2 hosts and ensure one is always present to host the others. For all other groups, the purchaser of the pass will be assigned the head of the group and is required to host all group visits.

If I purchase a Family / Group membership but have less than 5 spa-goers, can I keep the session private to our smaller group?

You may!

I just purchased my membership. What happens next?

Near the end of August, you will receive an email regarding coming in for an orientation on using the space and the app. Starting Sept. 1st, you will be able to begin booking your visits.
